Objective One:
Promote and/or provide continuing education in occupational and environmental health nursing.

a. Provide one annual conference a year in the fall.
b. Co-sponsor at least one alternative educational event per year.
c. Inform members of continuing education opportunities and evaluate establishing a web page to distribute information in a timely manner.
d. Promote and support the Michigan Safety Conference-Occupational Health Division by annual participation.
e. Evaluation of continuing education offerings(s) will be included in Conference committee reports and reviewed annually by the Education Committee to assure that member needs are met.

Objective Two:
Promote health and safety of workers and communities and support occupational and environmental health nursing practice through monitoring and influencing state legislation and regulations.

a. Establish communication links with local constituencies and provide information about state legislative and regulatory activities on an ongoing basis.
b. Establish a plan to maintain occupational health nurse representation on state regulatory and advisory boards.
c. Maintain active participation in COMON and Nurse Impact.
d. Continue financial support for participation in Nurse in Washington Internship (NIWI).

Objective Three:
Promote occupational and environmental health nursing through public relations activities.

a. Maintain a public relations focus as delineated in objectives 1D and 2C.
b. Develop a targeted public relations program to specific business and industry groups to market the value and contributions of occupational and environmental health nurses.
c. Develop and publicize a speakers bureau of MAOHN members as a resource to business/industry education and other nursing, health, environmental, and safety organizations.

Objective Four:
Provide opportunities to develop association leadership skills.

a. Provide financial support for the president and one other board member to attend the AAOHN Conference of Leaders.
b. Develop and implement a formal board member orientation.
c. Provide at least one board development activity per year.
d. Include review of the strategic plan on the agenda for each MAOHN board meeting.
e. Encourage and nominate members to become candidates for AAOHN office.

Objective Five:
Enhance internal communications.

a. Continue to provide a MAOHN newsletter that is an effective and informative membership communication tool.
b. B. Provide structures opportunities for special interest groups to network at the annual meeting.
c. C. Explore options for distributing to local constituency presidents a list of MAOHN members who are available to share expertise in designated areas of professional practice with other members.

Objective Six:
Attract and retain members.

a. Institute an annual membership campaign to include affiliate members.
b. Annually, survey members who do not renew to determine unmet needs.

Objective Seven:
Ensure adequate resources to secure organizational growth and stability.

a. Invite members to share effective occupational health resource materials in MAOHN board of directors accountable for established budget allowances.
b. Finance committee holds all members of the MAOHN board of directors accountable for established budget allowances.
