President's Message
January 2, 2009
Greetings to all MAOHN Members:
Our State Chapter was the recipient of the AAOHN Bronze level membership recognition award for the 2007 recruitment year. This award is reflective of association membership percentage increase between 1% and 6%.
As we embark on a new year, I realize that we will face challenges ahead. With the economic downturn in Michigan, we’ve noted that our membership is declining and we are dependent on volunteers more than ever in order to keep our organization strong and visible. We need to:
- Identify new OHNs—invite them to meetings and encourage them to become members of MAOHN.
- Work with current members who are interested in leadership and/or committee roles. If you are interested, we look forward to engaging your expertise!
As we embark on the 61st year of our Chapter’s history, it will be imperative for us to collectively be engaged with the Association, our State and local Chapter, and each other—as colleagues. We will need to rely on each other and establish strategies that allow us, as OHNs to demonstrate our value to our employers. It is my hope that we will be able to enlist the support of our members into leadership roles within our Chapter.
I look forward to working with the membership and the Board during this year—how can we as a team continue our success? Let’s share our thoughts and ideas for solutions that will positively impact our Chapter and organization.
