These programs prepare advance practice nurses for the current and evolving primary care health care system; with additional emphasis on occupational health. Issues of health promotion and positive health behaviors and a focus on health needs in the workplace are emphasized.
These program options contain all content and clinical experiences required for certification as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner and as an occupational health nurse, including over 500 hours of supervised practicum experience in primary care and occupational health services.
The occupational health specialization includes 12 credit hours in interdisciplinary occupational health and public health courses, including epidemiology, occupational and environmental health, occupational diseases, ergonomics, and safety. Our graduates are prepared for employment in very diverse occupational settings including manufacturing, service industry, corporate environments, and agriculture.
